There are almost as many pathways that lead to permanent residency in Canada as there are reasons to come! Our role in this process is to guide you down the right pathway for you, taking into account your needs and your personal circumstances.
If you do not have any immediate family members in Quebec or Canada, you will normally need to qualify through one of the economic immigration programs. If you do have family members living in Canada, you may be eligible for permanent residency in one of Canada’s family reunification programs.
If you are already a student or a worker in Canada, you will probably be in a good position for permanent admission.
Contact usCanada and Quebec have two economic immigration programs:
Qualified workers: Selection criteria are based on education, age, language skills in both French and English, professional experience, children, and similar factors for your spouse, if applicable. Links already established with Canada may also be considered: family, professional experience, Canadian diploma, etc.
Business people: There is a great diversity in such programs as they are generally supported by the provinces. Quebec has the most developed program and offers possibilities to self-employed workers, entrepreneurs and investors. Each of these categories will require business experience and a certain net worth.
Learn moreCanada understands the importance of bringing family members together, and the family reunification program admits a good proportion of new admissions in Canada every year.
You may qualify in this program if you are the spouse, the parent, the grandparent or the child of a permanent resident or citizen of Canada. Other family members may be admissible in particular circumstances.
Certain criteria will also apply to your sponsor, so you need to make sure you both fit the requirements before you submit an application.
Learn moreIf you are a student or a worker in Canada, you may qualify through one of the programs which aim at attracting and retaining foreigners that are already well established in Canada or in Quebec.
Between the filing of your application for permanent residency and the issuance of permanent status, you will most likely qualify for simplified renewals of your temporary status in Canada, so that you may remain in Canada legally until the end of the processing of your application. Having filed an application for permanent residency does not lift the requirement to renew your temporary status in Canada: make sure you remain on valid legal status throughout your permanent residency application process!
