Updated list of jobs eligible for the simplified process
On February 24, 2022, the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration updated the List of professions eligible for simplified processing, under the TFWP program, in order to respond to market needs. The number of eligible professions has increased significantly.
A transitional period of 30 days, from February 24, 2022 to March 24, 2022, is granted to the employer or his representative to adapt to these changes; that is to say that the requests received during this period can be studied on the basis of the old list. The full list can be found here.
Launching a new online case status tracker
On February 8, 2022, a new digital tool was put in place to make it easier for certain applicants for permanent residence to check the status of their application in process. The tracking tool will initially be available to family class permanent residence applicants.
Screening tests before entry
As of February 28, fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to present a negative PCR test upon their arrival in Canada. A simple antigen test authorized by the country in which it was carried out (such as viral antigen tests or lateral flow tests) will be sufficient. This test must have been taken outside Canada no more than one day before the scheduled return flight. Travelers can still be randomly selected to undergo a PCR test upon arrival at the airport, but without the need to self-isolate as is currently the case.
In addition, still from February 28, children under 12 who are not adequately vaccinated but traveling with adults who are, will no longer have to quarantine for a period of 14 days upon their arrival in Canada.
However, the measures (PRC test, quarantine, travel restrictions, etc.), remain the same for travelers who are not adequately vaccinated.
